Wiley (ADOPTED) is a lovable young dog, about 18 months old, who was found caught in a coyote trap, hence his name (he is also known as Smiley Wiley). In the short time we have had Wylie in foster care he has endeared himself to all. With his easy temperament and playfulness, he gets along with other dogs and cats, as well as children. Wylie looks like a cattle dog except for his slightly larger size. We have decided that he may be mixed with some husky and/or Akita, although we have no idea for sure. He has lovely plush fur that is like a teddy bear.
Wylie loves to cuddle and be with his people, following them everywhere, but without any separation anxiety when left behind. After Wylie's experience in the coyote trap, he is now traumatized by crates. It has not posed a problem, since he rides nicely in a car. He sits quietly in the back seat and does not get into anything that might be back there (including a bag of dog food). He also sleeps nicely on his dog bed in a separate room without a fuss. Of course he loves sleeping on the human bed too, but being in a foster home can only do so when the resident dogs are outside :-)
Wiley is house trained and eager to learn and obey, responding to the standard sit, stay, leave it, and of course, 'no.' He is good on leash, but could use a bit more work in this department.
Wylie is a very gentle lad, taking treats softly, and giving soft kisses. He seems to bond more quickly with women, being a little tentative when first meeting men but once he has made the connection, he responds more readily to the authoritative voice of a man.
