Storm (ADOPTED!) is a 1.5 year old, gorgeous, purebred, Australian Shepherd. He is an incredible dog with a lot to offer a family. Unfortunately, it was decided that he had a few quirks that were just not suitable for service dog work. Storm is a loyal and loving dog who bonds quickly with his handler, he is a quick learner and eager to please. Training with Storm will help build a stronger bond faster. He enjoys cuddling, going on walks (he is a dream on leash), and lounging around the house with his person. Although calm most of the time, Storm is a quirky boy who is sure to provide plenty of laughs and entertainment to everyone around with his antics. Storm is wonderful with other dogs, big and small, though he can get a little vocal while playing. He is, however, not a friend to cats that we have observed- he prefers to chase them rather than approach them carefully.
Storm does get car sick, he will drool a lot of short trips and sometimes he does vomit in the car on longer trips.
Perhaps Storm’s biggest flaw is that we have seen some seemingly unprovoked aggression from him towards certain women he has been around. He recently nipped at a woman passing by unprovoked and left a bruise on her thigh. This is not a regular occurrence and has happened only 3 times in a year (only one nip, other 2 times were barking/lunging). We aren’t sure what the triggers are since most of the time he is perfect with everyone he meets! It may just be some stranger danger, not uncommon in this breed, that has come out as he matured.
Storm’s current training includes sit, down, stay, shake, roll over, hug, cover (stand between a person’s legs), and block (stand behind a person). He is crate trained, potty trained, behaves excellently in the house and in public, and has yet to meet another dog he doesn’t like.
Only available to a pet home, or may be great for someone interested in agility or herding. Not suitable for Service Dog work. Storm is located in the Visalia, CA, area.
