BEAU is a fun, loving guy, who would be the perfect working or sports dog. Beau is a 1.5 year old neutered, male Border Collie. He has a very high ball drive and a drive to train. Beau has been living with a certified professional dog trainer and behavior consultant for almost a year. He has a strong foundation training in obedience, rally, scent work (birch, anise and clove), agility and tricks. With the right partner Beau could excel in competition or a working home. Beau needs owners experienced, patient dog owners, who are willing to continue working with him to help build his confidence, and achieve his full potential. Beau is great with other dogs and has never had any issues when playing with other dogs. He has lived with multiple dogs in the house. Like typical herding breeds, Beau believes all toys are his, and will guard toys / treats / food from the other dogs. He has a high prey drive, he would do best in a home with no children or cats.
He was left outside our rescue's gate, in a crate in the pouring rain, so little is known about his past. He can be fearful of new people, especially men, and sometimes it takes a few visits for him to become familiar and warm up to a person. Once he knows you and realizes he can trust someone, his true silly, happy, and loving personality emerges. In addition to being a pro during training, this goof ball is also a pro cuddler! He is up to date on all his shots and is neutered.
