Sutter (ADOPTED!) is a true gentleman dog! He is a 7+ yr. old neutered male Catahoula and cattle dog mix. He is about as gentle and mellow a dog as you will ever find. He weighs 59 lbs. and is a low-medium energy dog.
Sutter is not a dog that makes a lot of noise or announces himself to the world. He sits quietly, listens for direction, and hopes that someone, sometime, will see what a sweet dog he is.
Sutter appears to be completely house trained - and crate trained, walking right into a crate with his hot dog treat. He is very easy to walk on leash. Sutter enjoys exploring in the yard. He has a very soft mouth and uses his tongue rather than his teeth to take a treat.
He gets along well with other dogs. He meets other dogs politely. When first meeting other dogs, if the other dog is energetically in his face, Sutter may grumble, or take a superior position over the dog to get it be less eager or less busy around him. After the introductions, Sutter is relaxed and enjoys the company of the other dog(s). At his short term foster home, he was fine and happy living with the dominant old female, the ball crazy young male, and the insecure adult male dog. He is currently being fostered with a playful cattle dog, and when hanging out together, the two will lick each other's faces.
At his current foster home, Sutter was interested in a bossy cat, who swatted at him several times. He wasn't happy with the cat, but merely barked his displeasure a few times to the aggressive cat - while keeping his distance.
Until we rescued Sutter on July 19th, for the past 4 months, he had been living in a cage at the shelter. He was placed on the euthanasia list, and the volunteers, who all loved him, were frantically searching for a rescue to take him. He is a wonderful, easy going, boy, who is just happy to be with you and go for a nice walk. He will make someone a terrific, low maintenance companion.
