MHISA

Mhisa

Mhisa (ADOPTED!) is about 2 yrs. old and weighs 44 lbs. She is a very mellow, quiet, low-moderate energy girl who loves the company of her humans. When inside, she is happy to find a spot in the room with her people and hang out with them.  Outside, she is content to lay in the shade and watch whatever is happening around her.  Mhisa is almost like a queen.  She loves attention from people and to be petted, but is not one to freely give out kisses or to come for a cuddle.  Mhisa happily and calmly greets everyone she meets, with a relaxed wag.

While she tends not to play with toys on her own, Mhisa enjoys gnawing on Nyla bones.  She may play with a soft toy, if her human engages her with it.  Our girl is very calm, yet observes everything.  She will spend a lot of time checking out and becoming familiar with a new area.

Mhisa is similar to a person who has never enjoyed a childhood.  She seems to have struggled a long time, doing whatever she had to, to survive on her own.  She is super smart, observant, learns very quickly and is eager to please.  For these reasons, she is very sensitive and only needs the softest correction when training and working on behavior.  Mhisa is house trained and knows how to use a dog door.  She walks nicely on leash.  If she pulls a little sometimes, give her a little quick tug on the leash and she will return back to your side.

Mhisa loves to ride in the car and watch the world go by.  She knows the command load-up and unload. She may get car sick on long rides. Her foster mom believes that with frequent short rides, Mhisa will eventually be able to go on longer car trips.  Our girl is also completely fine being left alone, and at night, sleeps in a crate or on a flat bed.

Mhisa loves older children (12+ years old) who she has been around and enjoys watching their energy.  Although we have not yet seen her with small children, we feel that Mhisa may not do well in a household with toddlers.

Mhisa was found living in a field. We suspect that the pup found with her (Dakota, now adopted) is her only surviving one.  For this reason, in the field and on the run, she is watchful and cautious around other dogs. Right now, she is a loner, and for that reason would do best as an only dog.  Her foster mom feels she may get along with a non-dominant, balanced dog, and is working to socialize Mhisa around other dogs, and teach her how to properly interact with them.

Mhisa does not show any herding tendencies, but becomes very excited, if she sees a squirrel, raccoon, cat, or some other small moving creature, and wants to go after them. Given her background, we believe she had to catch rabbits and small game to eat, and for this reason would not be good around cats.  She pays very close attention to her surroundings, and can spot a creature from far away.

If you have a quiet, lifestyle, and enjoy being outdoors, and are looking for a calm, quiet, loving and very loyal companion, Mhisa could be for you. Our girl will make someone a wonderful companion.
