LIBERTY

Liberty (ADOPTED!)  Although he is his adult size at 47 lbs., he is still a silly pup. Our boy is a little overweight and ideally should be around 45 lbs. We estimate that he is about 1 year old.  Liberty is extremely sweet and submissive, and loves all people and other dogs. He is just happy to have the company of and play with his people and the dogs in his pack.  As a young guy, who just wants to play, he sometimes makes himself a pest to older dogs, following them around constantly.  However, when paired with another easy and dog-social dog, they will play all day if allowed. With people, he will let you know that he would like some attention by gently poking your leg with his nose, and then giving you a happy smile and a wag.  He is a soft and gentle soul, who loves children, but is startled and cowers or flees at sudden movements.  We have not seen Liberty with cats, but would guess that he would just want to play.  There is not a mean bone in Liberty's body.

Our boy is a bit timid, especially in strange new situations. We don't know his background before the shelter, but when he is exposed to new occurrences or situations that he is unsure about, he will drop to the ground.  Liberty will need someone who is patient and willing to spend the time to work with him to shape him into a happy and confident adult. He needs to learn about the world by going to lots of fun new places and experiences, to help build his confidence.

Liberty very much wants to please and will be easy to train. He is completely house trained and knows how to use a dog door.  He walks beautifully on a leash with limited correction. He sleeps in a crate, in the bedroom with his foster people and dogs, and will go into his crate for a nap. As he is still a pup, Liberty will need a consistent supply of chew toys so that he doesn't resort to your shoes and cords. He is a medium energy dog who would be happy with a daily long walk and to be by your side.
